Gyaltsang Rinpoche was born in 1967 in Dhome Doipl, Tibet as 67th Gyal Tsang and reincarnation of 6th Tulku of Gyalkhen Chem Gelek Thupten Gyaltsen. At age of 13 he entered the local monastery called Evam Choe Khor Ling monastery, which is also known as Mag Poen, consisting of a small monk community of 30 monks. There he completed his basic monastic training of rituals, rites and different modes of chanting of Kalachakra, Cakrasamvara and the protecting deities.

At the age of 19 he entered the Detsha Trashi Choeding monastery in the Northern part of the Dhome which is comprised of 350 monk. There he studied in basic elementary logic and reasoning under variety of great teachers for more than three years. His studies included Tibetan grammar, poetic composition, Buddhist texts like stage and path in philosophical interpretations as well as tenets, 70 points of Parmita texts and others. He assumed the duty of being the supervisor of the class and led the recitations of the memorized root texts about five major Buddhist texts. In 1993 Rinpoche escaped the oppressed by the Chinese rule Tibet and came to India. When he arrived, he received the audience with His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Soon after that Rinpoche entered the Gomang Monastery and started his higher monastic educations starting from 70 points of the paramita.

In the year 1994 he has been recognized by His Holiness the Dalai Lama as reincarnation of Gyaltsang Rinpoche and on March 15th he was formally enthroned in the Drepung Gomang Monastery. Rinpoche has completed his study on Perfection of wisdom, Middle path Abbidharma and Vinaya and received good marks in all the examinations. He is now preparing for the Center Gelugpa Board examinations to earn the Geshe Lharampa degree.
