Homeopathic Clinic at Karma Raj Maha Vihar MonasterySwayambhu Kathmandu, Nepal
In September 1999, H. H. Buddha Maitreya kindly supported the establishment of a Homeopathic clinic with homeopathic medicines at Karma Raja Monastery for the betterment of the state of health of the lamas there. The homeopathic physician, Dr. Rajesh Pradhanang was appointed to work at clinic. The lamas had very poor hygienic conditions and lack of knowledge regarding hygienic condition as well as the causation of diseases. It was just after this that he set up the clinic at the other monastery supported on Swyambhu, Karma Raja Maha Vihar. In other words they have a lack of personal hygiene. With the constant kind support of H. H. Buddha Maitreya, the clinic was able to function to convince the monks about the importance of hygienic conditions and sanitation, cleanness of their own living room. At the beginning, most of the monks were taken to the Tuberculosis Hospital to check for the disease as in Nepal most mountain and Hill people are liable to suffer from Tuberculosis. With the help of Dr. Rajesh Pradhanang, a young monk Karma Sherab was taken to the proper medical center to be diagnosed and was found to have intestinal tuberculosis. (This monk had tried treatment at many places but all in vain.) Lama Karma Sherab was in a very critical stage of life but with total medical support along with separate lodging and food support of H. H. Buddha Maitreya, Monk Karma Sherab received new life and at present he is studying in a monastery in India along with his friends. This is one example where the monks were benefited by having a clinic at the monastery. The most lamas (monks) were examined and provided homeopathic medicine a when necessary. Other monks came for advice and to show the medical reports from treatment at other medical center and received proper advice and suggestion for their diseases and treatment process. From the beginning of the establishment of this clinic the homeopathic physician provided a health class both in a group and in individual basis. After laborious work of the physician and the kind support of H. H. Buddha Maitreya, the homeopathic clinic has effectively been able to make lamas concerned regarding their health condition and causation and importance of hygienic conditions though cleanliness and sanitation. There are numbers of monks that H. H. Buddha Maitreya has supported for medical treatment when they had treatment at other medical centers. The experienced and Government service holder pathologist Mr. Kedar Amatya was brought to collect blood at the monastery for pathological investigations of different lamas of Karma Raja Monastery. In the beginning of 2004, H. H. Buddha Maitreya provided financial support for the young lamas of Karma Raja Monastery. This allowed Dr Rajesh Pradhanang to paint their room, change the whole electrical arrangement in the room, buy bed sheets, towels, shoes, shocks, electrical, new wooden beds, and Detol soaps for bathing. The provided facilities of exhaust fan and the electric arrangement helped young lamas to breathe more fresh air and remain in sufficient light. From last year the young monks have been receiving $35.00 every other month for their entertainment. They had already been to the Zoo, Bhaktapur and Nagarkot for a picnic (during the Nagarkot visit they received $70.00 in total for expenditure as it is 35 km away from Kathmandu). |
