Biography of Dr. U. P. Upreti

Dr. Upreti is a U.S. trained social anthropologist and a retired technocrat and planner with United Nations and His Majesty's Government of Nepal. He spent many years in America at Davis University helping to set up Nepal's portion of the Peace Corps. Currently he works as a freelance consultant and spends major portion of his time in experimental (voluntary) work related to rural living and development. He has been involved in the experimentation of low cost housing and solar heating systems affordable by villagers in Nepal. Additionally, he also has been engaged as a short-term consultant with various international and national agencies.

Dr. Upreti was born in in a Bramhin family, however his roots go back to Lord Buddha's time. He belongs to the Mautgalwan clan. Mautgalwan was the Seer, Guru of the Sakyamuni clan and one of the first disciples of Buddha.

Dr. Upreti visited the Buddha Maitreya Soul Therapy Center in Sedona, Arizona were he found out more about the work of H. H. Buddha Maitreya. He helped setup "Prayers for Peace" Dharshan in Kathmandu; he made the trip happen by with working together with the Natraj Tours, thus eliminated many problem the group had with the travel agencies.
